Patronus Contest Entry
The waters of the Great Lake were still as a mill pond, the evening sky reflected on its glassy surface. A solitary figure sat staring disparately at the shore of the lake lost in her thoughts.
Emma, along with the rest of the Sixth Year Hufflepuffs, had spent the afternoon practising the Patronus Charm in Defence Against the Dark Arts, but Emma was the only one in her class who had not managed to summon a corporeal Patronus. The Sixth Years had been studying Patronuses now for over a month; first researching the theory of the spell, then practising the incantation before finally attempting to produce a Patronus. Emma was particularly gifted at Charms, she had already mastered all of the Sixth Year charms and even some of the Seventh Year spells, and she was one of the first in her class to produce a non-corporeal Patronus to the great surprise and delight of Professor Slughorn. She therefore had expected to discover what form her Patronus would take very soon after, but it had been al

Demise of a Death Eater
The last blood red rays of the sun fell below the horizon as the sound of a great engine roared off into the sky above the village of Godric's Hollow. Despite the terrible events that had transpired in the village the previous night there was not a soul around to witness a motorbike disappearing into the dusk, nor the shadowy figure which materialised by the ruined cottage. Cloaked like Death himself, Severus Snape lay a pale, shaking hand on the garden gate and, trembling, pushed it open. Ignoring the squeaking hinges, Snape almost stumbled along the garden path, dark eyes roving around what used to be such a well cared-for garden, but had recently fallen into neglect; the lawn was in dire need of mowing, the flower beds over-grown with weeds, yet the last of that year's lilies managed to rise above the interlopers.
"Lily..." Snape whispered. Hot tears were already forming in the corners of his eyes.
Tearing away his gaze Snape returned his focus to the house; one whole side had been

Do you remember the Big Bad Wolf? He destroyed the Three Little Pigs' houses and ate them (or only chased them, depending on the rendition). He ran to Little Red Riding Hood's home and devoured her grandmother. The Big Bad Wolf appears in countless fairy tales to eat and terrorize the general populace.
In many children's stories, the Big Bad Wolf is symbolic for the negative consequences that can follow bad choices. Two of the Three Little Pigs failed to work hard on their houses, allowing the wolf to blow them over with his tremendous breath. Littl

Doctor Who 50th Anniversary

Wed Nov 20, 2013, 7:13 AM

And other London shenanigans...

Wow, I really do fail at keeping an up-to-date journal... Must try harder! Anyway... I thought I'd quickly update as I have some news to share for once: tomorrow I'm off to London with two outernet friends. We are lucky enough to be attending the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration on Friday and we're making a proper geek-out fest! :woohoo:

So we're all getting up absurdly early tomorrow to catch the train to London, and upon arriving we shall be haul-assing across the city and out again the other side to the Harry Potter Studios at Leavesden (I cannot tell you how excited I am for this, I'm like a child who's been fed too much sugar!). We're then heading back to our hotel by the ExCel arena and getting a good nights sleep for Doctor Who geek-out on Friday. I'm going to be cosplaying for the first time ever (nervously excited about this), and the lucky character is the Eleventh Doctor, female version. I shall be posting lots of pictures (including a professional one at the TARDIS console) and I'm hoping to get some photos with other cosplayers as well. Saturday we have a free day in London, anything could happen!, before catching a train back to our rural backwater that evening.  It gon' be gooood!

In other news, I have finally been offered a job doing something I love, working with animals at last, which should start on the 2nd of December. Its a little way away from home, so it means that at last I can move out of my parents and set up on my own! At last I will have a place to call my own and my parents can have some peace and quiet. Sounds a bit grown up but at 25 I really should be being a bit grown up, don't you think? ;)

Thank you for the favourite!!

Also, to answer your poll, Pet sitter because it is generally more personal, and usually, the animals still get the same care and attention they would at their homes.
